Broadway and West End composer Andrew Lloyd Webber revealed on Saturday that his 43-year-old son Nicholas is “critically ill” with stomach cancer.

The Phantom of the Opera composer says that his son Nicholas has been suffering from the disease for the past 18 months, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

“I am absolutely devastated to say that my eldest son Nick is seriously ill,” the 74-year-old said in a statement. “As my friends and family know, he has been battling stomach cancer for the past 18 months and Nick is now in hospital.”

Nicholas Lloyd Webber is a Grammy-nominated composer known for his work on the British show ‘Love, Lies and Records’ and the film ‘The Last Stop’.

The eldest child served as a producer alongside his father on the original “Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella” album in 2021, which earned him a nomination.

“We are all praying that Nick turns the corner,” his father’s statement continued. “He is fighting bravely with his indomitable sense of humor, but right now my place is with him and the family.”

“We are all praying that Nick will turn the corner,” his father said in a statement.

The “Cats” composer was scheduled to be in New York this week to attend the opening night of the 2021 musical adaptation of “Bad Cinderella,” but revealed he won’t be attending because of his son’s condition.

“I can’t be happier with its wonderful cast, crew and orchestra at the opening,” said Lloyd Webber, revealing that his son’s illness was also the reason he was not at any of the show’s previews.

The show’s opening comes as Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical “The Phantom of the Opera” concludes its legendary run on Broadway in April.

Lloyd Webber also revealed that he helped compose the music for King Charles’ coronation, which is set to take place on May 6.

“I have composed it for the Westminster Abbey choir and organ, ceremonial brass and orchestra. I hope my anthem reflects this joyous occasion, said Lloyd Webber.

Webber’s “Bad Cinderella,” a modern retelling of the classic fairy tale told through the lens of unrealistic beauty standards, is set to open at Broadway’s Imperial Theater on Wednesday.
